How to split a UPI payment above ₹2000
You're at the counter, the bill is ₹5,000, and you want to pay it as several smaller UPI payments. Here's the whole thing in about a minute.
What you need
- The merchant's UPI ID — it's printed on their QR sticker (usually
something@bank), or ask them. - Any UPI app on your phone: Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, CRED, your bank's app.
- TukdaPay open in your phone's browser.
Step 1 — Enter the bill
Type the total amount and the merchant's UPI ID. As you type, the split appears under the amount. Add the shop's name and a note like the invoice or table number if you want it on every payment.
Step 2 — Split
Tap Split into payments. TukdaPay fills as many parts as it can at the limit and puts the remainder last:

Each part carries its number in the payment note (Part 1/3, Part 2/3…) so the merchant can see they belong together.
The default limit is ₹1,999. If a different figure applies to you, open Max per payment and change it before splitting.
Step 3 — Pay each part
The big button at the top always says what's next: Pay Part 1 of 3 · ₹1,999. Tap it. Your phone opens your UPI app with the payee, amount and note already filled in — you just enter your UPI PIN.
Come back to the browser, tick Paid, and the button moves on to Part 2. Progress is saved in your browser, so you can safely switch apps or refresh.
Tell the merchant first. Three payments of ₹1,999 look different from one of ₹5,000 on their side. Most shops don't mind, but say so before you start. Send on WhatsApp gives them the list in one tap.
On a computer
There's no UPI app to open, so TukdaPay shows a QR code under each part instead. Scan it with any UPI app on your phone.
Things it can't do
- It can't confirm a payment. UPI links don't report back to a web page, so Paid is your own tick.
- It can't pay a plain phone number or a bank account. It needs a UPI ID.
